RETHINKING DEI

Our Philosophy: Purpose-Driven and Impact-Focused

At Creative Outreach, we believe DEI should be more than a program or trend—it’s a commitment to creating environments where everyone feels they belong and can succeed. Our approach is to help clients identify the true purpose behind their DEI efforts, so they become a strategic part of their organizational DNA. We focus on embedding DEI as a lever for growth, engagement, and cultural integrity, aligning it with organizational goals to create lasting impact.

We don’t see DEI as a checklist. Instead, we guide clients to make DEI an actionable and measurable part of their strategy—where inclusivity is woven into every interaction, decision, and outcome.

Drawing from decades of expertise, we assist individuals and organizations in surmounting obstacles to harness the strengths derived from establishing effective DEI strategies. With our distinct 360˚ multi-pronged approach, we offer tailored services and resources to drive your DEI strategic development.

THE CREATIVE APPROACH TO DEI

Upgrading DEI: Evolving from Compliance to Culture. To help clients achieve a sustainable DEI transformation, our approach goes beyond compliance or surface-level changes. We guide organizations through a structured framework to ensure DEI fosters true belonging and engagement.

Cultures are dynamic and norms often need to be reassessed. Achieving transformative change necessitates a shift in perspective. We must transition from a divisive 'us vs them' discourse to a collective 'we' mindset, fostering mutual growth and support. It’s imperative to ensure that DEI strategies include and engage all employees, not solely the underrepresented.

REPURPOSED DEI & YOUR ORGANIZATION

Our solutions revolve around straightforward practices that nurture cultures of innovation, adaptability, and ongoing improvement, fostering positive and constructive shifts in impact.

  1. Finding Your “Why”: We start with defining your organization’s unique “why” for DEI. Establishing a purpose that resonates with core values creates a strong foundation for all DEI efforts, ensuring they are intentional, relevant, and impactful.

  2. Cultural Shifts First: Policies are essential, but they only reach their potential when they reflect a deeply embedded culture. Our programs cultivate cultural growth by aligning DEI with daily actions, making inclusivity second nature across the organization.

  3. Establishing Non-Negotiable Standards: We work with organizations to define and implement non-negotiable values that provide consistency and clarity. These foundational standards are not just policies; they are guiding principles that reinforce respect, integrity, and inclusion at every level.

SUCCESS CASE

  • Opportunity

The National FFA Organization, deeply rooted in agricultural education, faced a need to break through historical and legal barriers in DEI and build a culture that reflected a genuine sense of belonging. While FFA had introduced policies supporting DEI, they found that cultural depth was lacking, limiting member engagement and connection to the organization’s mission.

    Insight

Working closely with FFA, we identified that true progress required a cultural transformation. The goal was to move beyond policy-driven DEI to establish a culture of belonging, where everyone of its 1 million plus members felt represented, respected, and connected to FFA’s values.

    Solution

Creative Outreach provided a structured, phased approach to guide FFA’s DEI evolution:

    • Clarifying the “Why”: We began by helping FFA define its core “why” for DEI. By anchoring DEI in FFA’s mission, we created a clear purpose that aligned with long-term organizational goals and emphasized support for diverse member backgrounds.

    • Crafting a Belonging Statement: Recognizing the need for deeper cultural alignment, we worked with FFA to develop a Belonging Statement that reinforced respect, dignity, and inclusivity. This statement resonated with members, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.

    • Setting Non-Negotiable Standards: Together with FFA leadership, we established clear values that were not subject to debate—standards for behavior, respect, and inclusion that became fundamental expectations across the organization.

    • Providing Practical Tools: We equipped FFA members and staff with resources, training, and tools to foster inclusive environments. This included proactive support for overcoming barriers, ensuring accessibility, and promoting representation at every level.

    Results

By shifting from a DEI compliance model to one centered on “Belonging & Engagement,” FFA achieved significant and sustainable outcomes:

    • Enhanced Engagement: Members felt a renewed connection, leading to increased involvement, commitment, and participation across FFA activities.

    • Alignment with Mission: DEI became an integral part of FFA’s identity, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to inclusion and cultural growth.

    • Sustainable Cultural Transformation: FFA now serves as a model for how agricultural education organizations can evolve, actively supporting a diverse and inclusive member base and setting new standards for belonging within the industry.
